National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) have directed all aviation workers in Owerri Airport to shutdown all services at the Airport with effect from 12midnight today, March 8, 2023.
This is in compliance with the directive of the Nigeriam Labour Congress NLC for total strike and shutdown of Imo State over the militarisation and brutalization of Congress members in Imo State.
In a statement issued by the general secretary, Comrade Ocheme Aba said, this action shall disable normal operations at the airport, especially with regard to aircraft movement in and out of the Airport.
“As this matter is not for our making, we wish to crave your understanding and cooperation in order to avoid any escalation or undue exaggeration of hostility”
The statement noted that airlines and other aviation workers concern, as well as the airport traveling public have been notified to make alternative arrangements.
“This situation shall remain in force until otherwise directed by the NLC.”
