Former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has emerged winner of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP candidate for the 2023 presidential election.
Atiku won the PDP presidential primary with 371 polling votes.
He emerged as a candidate at the end of the presidential primary on 28 May 2022.
Atiku defeated the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who scored 237 votes, surpassing him with 134 votes.
Other aspirants with several votes polled include Bukola Saraki 70, Sam Ohuanbunwa had 1, Anyim Pius Anyim 14, Udom Emmanuel, 38, and Bala Mohammed, with 20 votes.
Giving a vote of thanks, the PDP flag bearer, Atiku said he will work on restoring unity in Nigeria.

He stated that it is a very historic day because they are going to restore all that the opposition party
He urged all party members who feel aggrieved to make use of the eternal mechanism to resolve the party issues.
