Why Buhari failed, Newswatch Magazine boss, Mohammed

Founding director of Newswatch Magazine, Yakubu Mohammed has said that poltical somersault was one of the main reason former president, Mohammed Buhari failed during his reign as the president of Nigeria.

The veteran journalist, Mohammed stated this at TheNiche’s 5th annual lecture held on Thursday Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, (NIIA), Lagos.

He said that Buhari came with a lot of promises and hopes but, political somersault, insecurity, corruption made him failed.


He also querried that he did not manage the nation’s diversity very well to unite us as Nigerians.

Mohammed also reiterated that the problem of Nigeria is about leadership because if the leaders is not living in an example, the followers can not follow well.


Also at the annual lecture, media consultant, Dr Chidi Amuta said the past eight years was the most disasterous period in Nigeria.


He blames leadership for Nigerians problem. According to him, everybody have better tomorrow, but, Nigeria seems to have better yesterday than today.


For the way forward, he said, people need to speak in one voice.

But, former minister of transportation, Rotimi Ameachi who was trying to defend Buhari’s regime said, Buhari believed that government is about infrastructure but he didn’t have money to achieve what he wanted to achieve in terms of infrastructure.

He faulted fellowers as Nigerians problems. According to him, if anything happens to you in Nigeria, Nigeria will do nothing.
