President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Tuesday, April 2, for Dakar, capital of Senegal to attend the inauguration of Senegal’s President-elect, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

In a statement on Monday, Ajuri Ngelale, presidential spokesperson, said the president’s visit is on the invitation of Senegal.

“President Tinubu, who is the Chairman of ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, will join other regional leaders to witness the inauguration at Diamniadio Exhibition Centre on Tuesday,” the statement reads.

“The president will be accompanied on the trip by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, and other senior government officials.”

The spokesperson said Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the inauguration.

Recall Faye, 44, won more than 54 percent of votes cast in the country’s delayed presidential poll.

Last week, Senegal’s constitutional council affirmed the presidential election victory of the opposition candidate.
