Palliatives measures: Coker Aguda, Lagos Chairman, Rasaq Ibrahim distributes foodstuffs to over 2000 households

Executive Chairman of Coker Aguda LCDA, Honorable Rasaq Ibrahim Olamilekan, (RIO) on Wednesday distributed food items to over 2000 household to the people of Coker Aguda local Council Development Area in Lagos, Nigeria.

The pallatives is in a move to cushion the effects of the subsidy removal that have resulted in hardship to the Nigerian people.

The executive chairman while distributing the food bag at the LCDCA secretriate said the palliatives is to ease the stress of hunger the people are presently going through due to the subsidy removal.

According to him, the pallatives distribution will be in stages, ”The pallatives has been divided into four stages, today’s distribution is the first batch and we have targeted number of people to reach out to. We have over 2000 food items for approximately 2100 households. When this first stage is done, we will call for another batch till every ward in the community receives theirs. We have seven wards in Aguda, so every ward will get theirs,”

For record purpose, he disclosed that the pallatives is not the federal government’s N5b and bags of rice for each states, but, a show of love and help to the people of the community. ”its a collective contribution from the management and executives. We will add to this when that one comes, but, for now, we will keep doing this,” He said.

Promising to reach out to more people, he said the pallatives distribution will continue till December and it will be an every month thing where everyone will be reached.

For the criteria used to reachout to the people, he said, they went round the houses in the community to check which household needs them. “So, we are giving the items to people that needs them and the modalities used will ensure that no one collects twice while others are left without. We are working with records to make sure it goes round to the people in the community,” he said.

Aside the food pallatives, the youngest chairman in Lagos, Hon. Rasaq Olamilekan said his administration has invested in education, ”We have paid GCE for a huge number of students, we did a free holiday coaching for over 2000 students in the community, providing them with snacks to help ease the stress of parents”

He used the medium to plead with Nigerians to be calm with the government that soon everything will be fine. According to him, the present government have good packages for Nigerians saying that nothing good comes easy.

Hon Olamilekan RIO while commending president Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu for their support, urged Nigerians to keep praying them for wisdom to lead the people to the greater height of a renewed hope and their expectations.

Also, the Vice Chairman, Olaleye Mathew Olanrewaju, advised the beneficiaries not to sell the food stuff for anything. “we know that things are hard, but it should not make you say let me sell beans and leave rice. The pack itself is N200 short of 10,000. We have garri, rice, beans, and supegatti. It is for your consumption,” he warns.

He told Trek Africa Newspaper that their administration is also enrolling youths on Solar training, and other vocational skills for sustainability.

A beneficiary, Onibukun Olufunso, thanked the chairman and his executives for the kind gesture and pray that God blesses him to do more for the people. “It’s a new era and we embrace it. We pray for continunity. I appreciate the chairman for all he has been doing for the people of Aguda, he said.
