Pakistani national rescued from kidnappers in Lagos as police arrest robber, cultist

During a press briefing attended by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), the Lagos State Police Command informed the general public about its latest policing breakthroughs. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, addressed the press on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, detailing a series of arrests and recoveries in ongoing efforts to combat crime in the state.

  • ARREST OF SUSPECTED CABLE VANDALS & RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS

  • On March 2nd, 2025, at about 0230 hours, operatives of the Command, while on patrol, arrested four suspected cable vandals—Innocent Victor (47), Yusuf Ismaila (45), Omega David (46), and Francis Asua (43)—while they attempted to vandalize electrical conductors attached to a transformer at Igbonla/Ilara Road, Eredo, Odo Noforija. Recovered from them were cutting tools and a Toyota Corolla (BDG-22-GX).
  • SERIOUS ASSAULT ON A POLICE OFFICER & ARREST OF SUSPECTS
    On March 3rd, 2025, at 1230 hours, a police team conducting stop-and-search at Olukosi Bus Stop, Shasha, was attacked by hoodlums after a passenger resisted a search. Two suspects, Maja Tayo (26) and Ogunbayode Olumide (25), were arrested while efforts are ongoing to track down the others.
  • RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED PAKISTANI NATIONAL & ARREST OF SUSPECTS
    On March 5th, 2025, operatives rescued a Pakistani national, Iftkhar (48), who had been kidnapped by seven compatriots after being lured from Kano with a fake job offer. Two suspects, Roman Gull (19) and Aftab Ahmad (28), were arrested, while efforts continue to apprehend the remaining five. A Toyota Camry was recovered from them.
  • ARREST OF MURDER SUSPECTS

  • On March 8th, 2025, at 1533 hours, police responded to a fight at NPA Road, Victoria Island, where Dorothy Emmanuel (25) was fatally injured. Two suspects, Paul Digha (33) and Sunday Olukoya, were arrested, and an investigation is underway.
  • ARREST OF NOTORIOUS CULTIST & RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS

  • On March 8th, 2025, at 0705 hours, police at Fagba Junction, Iju, arrested Ibrahim Toheeb (26), alias Baale, a wanted cultist involved in multiple killings. Some illicit drugs were recovered from him, and efforts to arrest his accomplices continue.
  • ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER & RECOVERY OF WEAPON
    On March 7th, 2025, at 1400 hours, police at “Y” Junction, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, arrested Shaibu Useni (27) of Sagamu, Ogun State. A locally made revolver, four expended cartridges, and hard drugs were recovered.
    The Lagos State Police Command reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to safety and security across the state.
