Lagos Apex Lions Club ask Lagos Govt to create more Awareness on Health Issues

A non governmental organization, Lagos Apex Lion Club has asked Lagos State Government to create more awareness on all health issues.

The president of the Club, Lion Funmilayo Adegbola, who stated this at the free Medical Community Health Fair outreach said creating awareness on all health issues by government will help people to know their health statues.

Lion Funmilayo Adegbola, Club President, Lagos Apex Lions Club flanked by members of the Club, during the Community Medical Health Fair, held in Lagos recently.

The Club who were able to reach out to three million ( 3m) people of Ilupeju Area at Ijoko Community, Lagos also advised government to build and equip hospitals as well as community health care centres and encourage everyone to ensure they go for proper medical check at the health center or general hospital in each of their community.

Also, Chief Executive Officer, Bloshealth Foundation, Mr. Peters Olamide advised government to empower individuals and families in low income community which will ensure adequate feeding and also afford them access to subsidised healthcare.

“Government should train community Birth attendants on limitations guiding maternal and child health as these TBA’s are rooted in the community. Provide Basic amenities and tools in the care of pregnant women in low income communities. Sensitize more pregnant women in low income communities on the importance of focused and skilled antennatal and delivery care and partner with small local NGO’s focusing on health to achieve this,” she said.

On how often should an individual go for check up, Olamide said: “Normally, medical checkup or examination should be done every three months but in a compromised or State of health deviation, e.g hypertension, the individual is required to visit his or her health provider every week in order to monitor the state of health of the individual.”

Club’s Secretary, Lion Daramola Abisola Olubukola, advised Nigerians to take their health seriously by checking their health status regularly, eat healthy, make their environment clean always and to exercise themselves regularly.
