Lagos CP, Adegoke, calls for collaboration with journalists for safer Lagos as he meets with NAOSNP members

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha has called for collaboration with all security journalists in the state for a safer state and nation.

The CP who made this known in a media parly with National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP on Wednesday, January, 10 at its headquarters said there is need for the police and the media to work together for the interest of the public as both are serving the public.

He described journalists as the eyes through which the public see their breakthroughs and achievements.

CP Adegoke at the meeting promised to be transparent in releasing information but urged journalists especially the online media whose reports flies faster than the print to always verify facts before reporting for the interest of the public, a safer state and country.

According to him, ” Your constructive criticism will help us to review our strategies, put us on toes and where we need to make corrections, we will.

“Please, always call for confirmation when you hear anything flying around the place before publishing.

“On our part, we promise to be transparent. We will not hid anything from you. We are all serving the interest of the public by working towards making Lagos safe,”

He said, when the state is safe, it will lead to economic prosperity and then investment can come in and strive. “The rate of crime will drop because they will be jobs available for people to engage with,”

Also, the president of the association, Samson Oki, commended the CP, and the PRO for their prompt response to the association whenever there is need for confirmation and promised to work together with them for safer state and nation.


“We will work with you and we will make sure that our reports are verified before publishing. We will not take part in tarnishing the image of the police
We will be constructive with our reports,” he said.

He also request for continuous engagement like this to help get first hand information that will move the state forward.

Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha was posted to Lagos on December 11, 2023 as the 39th CP of Lagos State to replace Idowu Owohunwa, who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General.

NAOSNP is a group of organised online publishers, saddled with the responsibilities of maintaining peace, safety ans security in the nation through verified security reportage.
