418 hawkers, traders arrested, 1,019 vehicles impounded, others achieved in one year, Lagos TaskForce Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele

The Lagos State TaskForce, led by its chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, has marked its one-year anniversary, highlighting significant achievements in restoring order and sanity in the state, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

In a media parley to reel out its one year achievements at the Lagos State TaskForce office in Lagos on Tuesday, CSP Adetayo Akerele said during its hawking enforcement operation with his team, 418 hawkers and traders were arrested in areas like Ikeja, Obalende, Eko Hotels axis, Oshodi, Ikotun, Dopemu, Iyanu Ipaja, etc. according to him, goods were confiscated leading to improved public safety and urban order.


For vehicle enforcement, he said 1,019 vehicles were impounded from Victoria Island, Apapa, Ikeja, Agege, Motor Road, and other key areas. 612 vehicles were fined and released.

Akerele said: “Environmental sanitation. 1,786 shanties demolished in areas including Ogombo, White Sand, Mile 2, Fagba, Epe, Oworonshoki, Agege etc. These efforts have restored order and mitigated health and security risks in those communities.
“Motorcycle operation. 16,625 motorcycles were impounded during the period under review. A significant increase from 6,915 which were impounded in 2023 and early 2024.
Key enforcement zones includes, 2nd Rainbow, Festac, Badagry Expressway, Lagos Island, Ikeja, Agege, Iyana Iba, Apapa, Ipaja, etc. These align with the state’s ongoing ban on commercial motorcycles on major highways and other restricted routes.”

CSP Adetayo Akerele in regards to cleanup exercises said, in continuation of the agency’s enforcement operation to raid the states of criminal elements, the agency launched in April 2025 a clean-up enforcement operation on these twice a week during week hours of the day and embarked on enforcement operations and arrests of miscreants, hooligans, street traders, drug addicts, and other suspected criminal elements in every noose and cranny of the state.
“A total number of 2,276 out of which 222 were screened out and 2,154 were charged to court. Sanity was restored in all the areas to ensure safety and orderliness for a cleaner, safer Lagos for all.”

Other achievements he said includes, “Safety Arena Renal Station Support. First of its kind in all enforcement bays, the nature of our work is highly demanding, both fiscally and mentally. And a well-equipped realization hub will greatly enhance staff welfare, morale, and for better preparation for tomorrow’s assignments. Improved health center. Our upgraded health center is now better equipped to serve officers and residents because health and safety go hand in hand.
Newly renovated reception. First impression matters. We have revamped our reception area to provide a more professional, efficient, and welcoming experience.


To promote unity, wellness, and team spirit within the agency, the inaugural Table Tennis Cup has been introduced as an internal departmental competition. This landmark event aims to encourage camaraderie among officers while celebrating sportsmanship and physical fitness within the ranks of our staff, men, and officers. As we celebrate one year in office, I reflect with pride and humility on the journey so far.”

He stated that these achievement recorded during this period would not have been possible without the tenacity, consistency, and loyalty of their officers, as well as the critical support of the media and the board.

He said it’s been a difficult task, “Anything that has to do with security, it’s not easy but we just need to balance up,” he said.

He added: “This past year has been one of co-enforcement, community engagement, and digital journeys that are an impact for themselves, reflecting our deep commitment to a safer, cleaner, and more secure Lagos. I commend all Lagosians for their cooperation and continued support. Let us all play our part by obeying state law and actively engaging the agencies, see something, say something.”

He also used the medium to appreciate the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his immersed support and called for partnership with the communities for a safer Lagos.

He noted that Lagos State TaskForce is not wicked as people see them, “We are not wicked. We want the laws of the state to be obeyed.”
