Ahmed Kabiru Abdullahi, who represented the Lagos State Governor, host Chairperson of the occasion, Hon. Bola Shobowale, the Executive Chairman, Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA.

Speaking about his performance in the past 6years, Alhaji Ahmed Haruna shared: ‘Alhamdulillah, we are trying our best. We will do more than this best. We have been in Lagos for years, we have married Yoruba so we don’t see any difference between ourselves and whoever lives in Lagos. We thank God for Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu. I am speaking to the Arewa community to let us listen more to the Governor, it will make us have harmony.’

‘The major challenge that we are having is the issue of tribalism and for sometime now we have not had issues like that. Something that use to cause misunderstanding is when someone is just coming fresh to Lagos and does not know how to speak the local language which makes it difficult for the person to transact business, they may cheat those people and it is not good so we are advising our people to let us allow peace.’

On the candidacy of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he told Trek Africa Newspaper, ‘About 8 years ago, it was the Yorubas that made us win the President so now is the time to pay back. This is how they will trust us more so we are telling our people that they should vote massively for Asiwaju. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the best man to vote. He is the person that has drawn so many persons from various industries. He is a man who supports people to become great in their careers. Nobody should cause mayhem. If you have PVC, go out and vote and go home to watch TV and expect results.’

An awardee at the event, the acting Chairman of Lagos State House of Assembly Commission, Otunba Akin Oshungboye spoke with Trek Africa Newspaper. He said: ‘the Lagos State Government from inception have tolerated all tribes. Lagos is a mini-Nigeria. Every tribe is represented here. Part of it is the recognition of the Seriki Ahmed Haruna by the Lagos State Government. What we pray for is for other states to be as tolerant as Lagos. If you go to Festac, you will see streets named after Igbo people, Hausa people and are registered in the LGA. That is why we are saying if you come to this place, do your business and respect the people who own the land.’

On the coming elections, Oshungboye said: ‘There will not be any bloodshed in this election. We are going to coexist. We are going to vote Asiwaju as President of this country. He is a detribalized Nigerian. He is not an ethnic bigot. He is not a religious bigot. The election will be as peaceful as possible. Obasa will speak again.’

The Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, Chief Mrs. Bola Shobowale noted: ‘This is the 6th anniversary, it is commendable and I am happy that it is happening during my tenure. With our friendship, we are bound to grow in height. It shows we are one big family. We have a very harmonious friendship. Everything we are doing in the LCDA, Seriki and his people join us and pray that it will continue. We should continue to do things together till we become Ayobo/Ipaja LGA.’

‘My candid appeal to the electorate is that they should get their PVC because that is what gives them voice. I am sure that the election will not be a difficult one for us in Ayobo/Ipaja LCDA. Where we are going in Lagos is Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Idiat Adebule and others. The biggest of it all is our Baba and mentor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Asiwaju is the man of the moment. He can move Nigeria forward. He has the antidote. Asiwaju has empowered not just youths but Nigerians as a whole. He moves when others are having their sleep’, she told Trek Africa Newspaper.
