Lagos State govt directs all schools to resume on Monday, 25 April

Despite the controversies surrounding the resumption of the third term academic session, the Lagos State government has directed all schools, both private and public to resume on Monday, April 25, 2022

Principals and school owners had earlier expressed concern regarding the resumption date putting into consideration of series of public holidays, including workers day, Eid-El-Fltr, and Eid-El-Kabir but, the Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance, under the state Ministry of Education, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayen affirmed that their concern has been put into consideration and added in the calendar.

She stated that the academic calendar for the session had been fixed and it would be necessary for all parties to adhere strictly to it, in other to avoid disruption in the calendar, and urged proprietors and administrators responsible for coordinating students’ affairs to ensure they resume on the stipulated date.

Seriki-Ayeni while warning school owners and principals as well as teachers against disregarding the planned resumption date approved by stakeholders in the state said that the second term holiday which started on Friday, April 8, 2022, ends on Friday, April 22, 2022, as stated in the 2021 / 2022 academic calendar, while the third term begins on April 25, 2022.

She also directed teachers and proprietors to ensure strict compliance with the Lagos State Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy which is aimed at ensuring safety within the learning environment as the state government is committed to the delivery of quality education.

However, she urged parents to ensure proper monitoring of activities of their wards at home and warned students against involving in social vices as they prepare for their resumption.
