In a major strategic reshuffle aimed at bolstering security architecture nationwide, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the deployment of eighteen senior officers to critical commands and departments, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.
The redeployment affects the newly promoted Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Mohammed Usaini Gumel, and seventeen Commissioners of Police recently elevated and decorated with their ranks.
According to the press statement e-signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin and obtained by NAOSNP, the postings are designed to strengthen operational capacity, effective leadership, enhance public safety, and improve service delivery across the country.
The statement further stated that DIG Mohammed Usaini Gumel was deployed to head the Force Intelligence Department (FID). The Force FID is central to the police’s intelligence-gathering and counter-terrorism operations, indicating a focus on proactive crime management.
Several commissioners of Police were deployed to states that have faced significant security challenges. CP Aina Adesola takes the helm in Delta State, CP Umar Mohammed Hajedia moves to Kebbi State Command, and CP Iyamah Daniel Edobor assumes duty in Bayelsa State Command.
The IGP also filled leadership positions in several specialized formations, underscoring a targeted approach to unique crime sectors:CP Johnson Baba Lola, CP Special enquiries Bureau,FCID, Abuja, CP Osagie John Agans-Irabor now leads the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit in Lagos, CP Cyril Uchenna Obiozo takes charge of the Maritime Command, Lagos, CP LasisiTitilola heads the Railway Command, Lagos, CP Audu Garba Bosso will oversee General Investigations at the FCID Annex, Kaduna, CP Alhaji Mohammed Danlandi is to command the X-Squad, the police’s internal anti-corruption unit, in Kaduna.
Other postings span training institutions and administrative departments, including the Police Colleges in Kaduna and Ikeja, the Police Staff College in Jos, and key desks at Force Headquarters such as Community Policing, Safer Highway, and the Investment Office.
The IGP in his charge emphasized the need for purposeful and result-oriented leadership. He tasked them to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new roles.
IGP Egbetokun directed the deployed senior officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and ethical conduct, and ensure strict adherence to the rule of law
