Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has opened up about her decision to undergo tubal ligation more than 20 years ago, explaining that she chose the procedure to avoid having a large family.
The thespian shared these insights recently on her YouTube channel, Shaffy Bello TV, while reflecting on her experiences as a mother and the conscious choices she made regarding childbirth.
According to her, she underwent the medical procedure to permanently prevent further pregnancies.
She revealed that her fallopian tubes have been tied for approximately 26 years, adding that although her former husband wished to expand their family, she remained adamant.
“My ex-husband had to beg me to have another one. I didn’t want a lot of children. I wanted to stop,” Bello stated.
Describing the process, she noted that doctors performed the operation through her navel to tie her tubes, effectively preventing the release of eggs required for conception.
“So they went through my navel, went in there, did what they needed to do, and they tied it up. That was it. They closed my eggs,” the veteran actress said.
Bello also joked that if she were to fall pregnant despite the procedure, she would consider it nothing short of divine intervention.
“I’ve always said to myself that after tying my tubes, if I get pregnant, I will feel like Mary—it’s a holy child,” she quipped.
