Bunmi Oluyadi; Commander, Area F, ACP Paul Azuka Okafor; DPO of Ojodu division, CSP Elizabeth Oluwatoyin Opadola; Ojodu community leader, Alhaji Sanni; Councillors; Ojodu PCRC Chairman, Elder Samuel Akande; traditional rulers; Political leaders; Chief Aro Nojideem; Hon. Durojaiye Remilekun; union leaders, and so on.
The federal legislator, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke restated his commitment to service delivery at the commissioning of some major projects at the Ojodu Police Division over the weekend. He said: ‘My own slogan personally is service to the people. Whatever I do to the community is in line with the responsibility bestowed on me as an elected official so I sincerely appreciate you for Ikeja and Ojodu in particular. This is a part of the success of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.’
‘For those who know Ojodu Police Station some years back will know that it has now become a mini-London, it was terrible some years ago. During Endsars, this station was vandalized, we brought the station back to life and we thank God that the station is getting better. Today the Ojodu division has offices that you can be proud of, before you have to stay in wooden compartment.’
‘It is not about me, it is about the Ojodu community who singlehandedly started this building. When I saw what they are doing, I took it on and completed the project. When Alhaji Sanni called my attention to what is happening here I told him to stop going to the DPO, we will complete it and do what is not even in the plan. It wasn’t in their plan to change the roofing, to put generator, and some other things. I said let’s just do it together.’
The inspirational leader, Faleke fondly called ‘koseleri’ by his admirers added: ‘We are doing this because we believe in adequate policing. We believe if we give the Police the support they need, they will perform. To God be the Glory, Ojodu has been relatively calm. In addition to what we are doing, we are providing a free ambulance to bring people from emergency to the nearest hospital. We have tasked the LCDA to be the one responsible for the maintenance of the ambulance bus and payment of drivers. It is not the responsibility of the community. We don’t want any community to put it on hire, it must work within Ikeja. Ikeja will continue to shine and others will continue to follow.’
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade reiterated the importance of community support to the success story of the Nigeria Police Force. He commended the federal lawmaker, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke for the community oriented projects and empowerment programmes.
Hailing the entire Ojodu community and urging them to do more, CP Fayoade said: ‘The community should not relent in their support for the police. It enhances the job of the Police, it makes our job seamless and our performance is improved upon which will have good effect on members of the community. Once crime is low, business activities will thrive and standard of living will improve. I want to personally appreciate our honourable, Hon. James Faleke.’
CP Adegoke Fayoade also used the opportunity to hail the gallant officer, DPO of Ojodu division, CSP Elizabeth Oluwatoyin Opadola. ‘Today is a big day, a memorable day because I didn’t think I will see this kind of big projects in the short tenure of the DPO of Ojodu who spent barely 3 months since March. She has used her influence to get the projects done. I commend her for this great job.’
Thanking her boss, CP Adegoke Fayoade for the immense support she has enjoyed since assuming office at the Ojodu police division in March 2024, CSP Elizabeth Opadola stated: ‘I thank the dogged crime buster and the sound leadership of the Lagos CP Adegoke Fayoade. I am overwhelmed with joy that you found out time out of your busy schedule to witness the commissioning of these projects.’
