Dangote Refinery achieves milestone, begins petrol production

Lagos witnessed a historic milestone today as the Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest oil refinery, began production of premium motor spirit (PMS), or petrol, with an impressive capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.


The feat elicited celebrations and palpable excitements among the people who gathered in Lekki area of Lagos to witness the feat.
Nigerians have waited for long for the petrol from the Dangote Refinery as the country has of been grappling with fuel scarcity.


With the coming on stream of the pms section of the refinery today, Nigerians are expecting to see some improvements in the fuel supply efforts of the Federal government.


An elated Alhaji Aliko Dangote, owner of the 20 billion dollars facility told journalists today that he was happy with the progress, saying Nigerians will now have engine friendly fuel. He thanked his team for working very hard on the project.


He also thanked President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Governor of Lagos State, Babjide Sanwo-Olu for their immense support in seeing the refinery come through.


He pointed to his greying hair which he attributed to the pressures from getting the facility off the ground.


Dangote thanked all those who contributed to the success of the project.
