Ceylon Biscuits outlet, showcased their products at the Kenyan Food Expo event in Nairobi marking the expansion of Ceylon Biscuits, a prominent biscuits manufacturer in Sri Lanka, into the African market.

Their decision to venture into Africa reflects their commitment to providing high-quality products to a global audience while contributing to international trade and cooperation.

Many leading food manufacturers from several countries participated in the event. Ceylon Biscuits Limited was the only Sri Lankan food manufacturer to participate in the event in Nairobi.

“The purpose of participation was to secure an entry into the lucrative East African and other African markets, with special emphasis on Kenya, which is considered the gateway to East Africa,” said International Sales Director Nadeeja Karunathilaka and International Asst. Manager Rajeewa Weerasinghe.

Senior advisor to President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Climate change Ruwan Wijewardene who is attending the Climate Summit in Kenya, along with the High Commissioner in Kenya Kana Kananathan participated in this event.

The Ceylon Biscuits outlet showcased a wide range of Ceylon Biscuits products, known for their taste, quality, and innovation. This initiative is expected to provide Kenyan consumers with a delightful experience of Sri Lanka’s culinary excellence.

The opening of the Ceylon Biscuits outlet at the Food Expo in Kenya is a testament to the growing economic ties between Sri Lanka and Kenya. It also underscores the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations. While speaking at the event Wijewardene expressed optimism about this new chapter in Sri Lanka’s economic outreach, stating, “ This venture aligns with Sri Lanka’s vision of expanding its trade footprint into African markets and enhancing collaboration in various sectors. The opening of the Ceylon Biscuits outlet in Kenya symbolizes the commitment of Sri Lanka to fostering stronger ties with our African counterparts. It also represents the global recognition of Ceylon Biscuits.”

He also met some of the other Sri Lankan entrepreneurs in Kenya expressed gratitude for their dedication and emphasized the importance of their contributions to the nation’s economy.

“Your success in Kenya is a source of pride for our nation and we look forward to strengthening our connections.” He commended High Commissioner Kananathan for his outstanding role as a strong bridge between Sri Lanka and Africa.

“He has consistently promoted and supported Sri Lankan businessmen operating in Africa, fostering stronger economic and diplomatic ties between the two regions. Further and has been an exemplary diplomat and a true champion of Sri Lanka’s interests in Africa.”
