urges parties to maintain peace as parties sign peace accord

Ahead of Saturday 5th October Local Government Election, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo has held a pre-election meeting with the Leadership of the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission and Representatives of all political parties in the State.
In a press statement to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP by the Command’s PPRO, ASP Timfon John stated that, “The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police CP Joseph Eribo, Thursday held a pre-election meeting with the Leadership of the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission and Representatives of all political parties taking part in Saturday 5th October, 2024 Local Government Elections.”
According to the statement, “The meeting which was called to brief participants on the need to maintain Peace and Tranquility during Saturday’s election was held at the Conference room of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command Ikot Akpanabia.”
“CP Eribo who spoke extensively on the need for all political parties to maintain Peace and harmony, avoid any kind of conflict and violence assured that the Police and other security agencies deployed to monitor the election shall ensure maximum security and promised that security agencies shall be fair to all manner of persons irrespective of the political party they belong. He called on political players to see the election as a game of sports and not as a do or die affair. The CP also appealed to political Parties to ensure they cooperate with Security agencies so that the election be hitch-free. He called on AKISIEC to ensure that they play the role of an unbiased arbitrator in the election where all parties are treated fairly and equally.”
AKISIEC Chairman, Elder Aniedi Ikoiwak who also spoke, thanked CP Eribo for the invitation and on the message to political parties and AKISIEC. He promised that the Election organizing body shall be fair to all political parties before, during and after the election. He thanked the Police and Sister Agencies for the assured Security provisions. And further pledged the readiness of AKISIEC towards conducting a very free, fair and credible election on Saturday 5th October, 2024.”
High point of the event was the signing of a Peace Accord by all Political parties Present.
